At the very core of Living in Bangkok is a commitment to get to know and support our local community. It’s a recognition of the people who set out on new frontiers, to make a home in a new land and bring something positive to contribute to their new homes and become members of a new society. This year, Living in Bangkok partners with Bangkok Farmers’ Market to delve even deeper into the Bangkok life, and to bring you closer to the people who are working to make Bangkok a more connected and sustainable community.
FACE TO FACE WITH LOCAL ARTISANS
With this goal in mind, we set out to bring you the stories of some of the faces of Bangkok Farmers’ Market, the entrepreneurs and makers we often see behind their booths. These are the people at the forefront of the fight against blind consumerism, the ones who work every day to bridge the gap between the producer and the consumer, and remind us that the art of making something is much more beautiful when it’s not mass produced. Indeed, the bread tastes better when you know the baker, the coffee is richer when you know the story of the farmer who grows the beans, and the cheese is creamier when you can point to the guy who made it by hand.
