Male Infertility

Infertility refers to the inability of a married couple, particularly women under 35 years old, to conceive children after engaging in regular unprotected sexual intercourse for a minimum of 12 months.

Causes of Male Infertility
1.Abnormalities in sperm production, including:
Genetic conditions like Klinefelter syndrome or microdeletions of the Y chromosome Inflammation and infections (e.g., mumps virus-induced testicular inflammation)


2. Abnormalities in sperm function, such as:
  • Reproductive system inflammation, like prostatitis
  • Presence of varicocele

3.Blockages in sperm ducts, such as:
  • Vasectomy
  • Inflammation of the sperm ducts
  • Congenital abnormalities


  • Gathering reproductive history and conducting physical examinations
  • Semen analysis to assess sperm health
  • Endocrine testing to measure hormone levels relevant to fertility
  • Ultrasound examinations to assess reproductive organs and detect any abnormalities
Treatment for male infertility depends on the underlying cause of the condition:
  • Lifestyle modifications may be recommended.
  • Medications may be prescribed.
  • Surgical procedures may be necessary.
  • Intrauterine insemination (IUI) involves injecting specially prepared sperm into the uterine cavity.
  • Assisted reproductive technology (ART), such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), may be utilized.
  • Sperm retrieval from the epididymis or testes may be performed in certain cases.
