HBV genotype and drug resistance interpretation covers following mutations of reverse transcriptase gene : L80I/V, Il69T, V173L, L180M, A181S/T/V, T184A/C/F/I/G/S/M/L, S202C/G/I, M204I/V, N236T, M250I/L/V including identification of HBV strains (A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H).

HBV subtype D has poor reponsiveness to interferon treatment compared with subtype A and B.

After treatment with nucleoside analogue, the responsiveness of NA may decrease due to reverse transcriptase resistance.

PCR and direct sequencing of HBV reverse transcriptase gene, then compare sequence with stanford HBV drug resistance database (Stanford and MaxPlack database)
