Bumrungrad Invests in Thailand's First Campus in Phuket to Build 150-Bed Boutique Hospital and Advanced Diagnostic Center

Bumrungrad International Hospital has announced its plan to construct a 150-bed boutique hospital and advanced diagnostic center in Phuket, Thailand.

Bangkok, Thailand - Bumrungrad International Hospital has announced its plan to construct a 150-bed boutique hospital and advanced diagnostic center in Phuket, Thailand. The move is part of Bumrungrad's strategy to expand its world-class medical services to the high potential market in the province of Thailand, starting with Phuket, the major city in the south of Thailand. The new hospital will be built using Bumrungrad's strategy of providing personalized care and innovative medical technology to patients.

Phuket is a high-value venue for business, tourists, expatriate communities, and high-income local residents. Bumrungrad will bring its international standard of quality and safety for patients to the residents of Phuket, providing them with the opportunity to receive medical treatment with Bumrungrad's standard of excellence in clinical outcomes, medical technology and innovation, and patient services. This Phuket campus is proof of Bumrungrad's vision to become the most trusted healthcare and wellness destination. The estimated cost of the Bumrungrad Phuket campus is 4.3 billion Thai Baht. The site of the 16.55 rai. Bumrungrad Phuket campus will be located near Phuket's legendary Blue Canyon Country Club, only about 3 kilometers from Phuket International Airport. Bumrungrad Phuket anticipates construction will commence as soon as all necessary permits have been granted.

Mr. David Thomas Boucher, Bumrungrad's Chief Partnerships Officer and project lead, noted, "We find the Phuket market compelling for several reasons. First, the island of Phuket has a population of over 450,000 residents. This is important because, like with Bumrungrad in Bangkok, our first and foremost focus is on local Thai and Expat patients. Second, Phuket received approximately 5.4 million visitors pre-pandemic, with the top six countries of visitor origin being: China, Russia, Germany, Australia, UK, and France, and currently tourism in Phuket is once again robust - having rebounded very well since Thailand's post-pandemic re-opening in mid-2022. Finally, it is important to note almost half the world's population is within a six-hour flight of Phuket."

Mr. Rajeev Rajan, Bumrungrad's Chief Business Development Officer for International Markets, added, "In addition, we are 100% confident the 38 airlines that serve Phuket will facilitate growth for international medical tourism in Phuket. Upon arrival in Phuket, these patients will have access to the 24 foreign consulates located on the island. We are keenly aware of the many patients who, for years, have traveled from Phuket to Bangkok to receive services from us. Our expansion into Phuket will make accessing care more convenient and timely."

Phase one of the Bumrungrad Phuket campus will include a 150-bed boutique hospital, an advanced diagnostic & anti-aging center, along with a car park to comfortably accommodate patient, visitor, physician, and staff vehicles. Once complete, the services offered at the new Phuket campus will include: VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center and Anti-Aging, Family & Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedic & Spine Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery, Gender Affirming Care, Urology, among many others.
The expansion of the Bumrungrad Phuket project will create trust not only for Phuket local residents but also for expatriate communities, business persons, and medical tourists to have an experience with an international standard hospital. Bumrungrad also believes that this project will create trust and confidence in Thai healthcare services as one of the top world's destinations for wellness and healthcare. One of the great benefits is to generate revenue for the local community, as well as create approximately 500 new jobs at the Bumrungrad Phuket campus.

Bumrungrad's expansion into Phuket is a significant milestone in its mission to provide world-class healthcare services to patients across Thailand and the world. The new campus will bring the highest standard of medical care to Phuket, a high-potential market for healthcare services. Bumrungrad is excited to expand its services to Phuket and provide patients with the best possible care.
