These procedures can show whether your bone marrow is healthy and produces normal amounts of blood cells. Doctors use these procedures to diagnose and monitor blood and marrow diseases, including some cancers.

  • Keep the dressing or bandage on and keep it dry for 24 hours. Do not take a shower or bath and do not swim or use a hot tub. After 24 hours you can take off the dressing or bandage by yourself. A small amount of bleeding is normal. But if the bleeding soaks through the bandage or doesn't stop with direct pressure, contact your health care team.
  • Contact your doctor if you experience:

    • Worsening pain or discomfort
    • Swelling, increasing redness or drainage at the puncture site
