The Sports Medicine & Joint Center, in collaboration with VitalLife Scientific Wellness Center, provides comprehensive care for athletic individuals — from injury prevention and performance assessment to treatment to rehabilitation to personalized wellness programs.

Our multidisciplinary team combines expertise in sports medicine, orthopedic surgery, cardiology, nutrition, and hormone health with advanced technology to help you stay active, recover safely, and get back to your daily activities and the sports you love.

1. Prevention & Assessment

Before starting or increasing your level of physical activity, you must understand your body’s readiness as it is very important in preventing injuries.
  • Performance Screening
Functional Movement Screen (FMS) evaluates seven fundamental movement patterns to identify your hidden weaknesses, limitations, and imbalances. With this, our team addresses potential problems before they develop into injuries.
  • Cardiac Screening
Exercise stress test (EST) and VO₂ Max testing help assess your cardiovascular fitness and identify potential risks. The results can support appropriate exercise and treatment planning based on your individual physical capacity.

2. Treat the Cause, Preserve the Movement

Our approach goes beyond treating the area where you feel pain. We look for the underlying cause of the problem, which may be related to joint structure, movement patterns, muscle imbalance, or repetitive use.
  • Personalized Treatment Plans
Each treatment plan is tailored to your condition, activity level, lifestyle, and personal goals. The goal is to preserve your natural joint structure and movement for as long as possible.
  • Joint Preservation: Preserving Instead of Replacing
Whenever appropriate, we focus on preserving and restoring your natural joints. We help you maintain joint function, slow joint degeneration, and potentially reduce the need for joint replacement surgery in the future.
  • Minimally Invasive Surgery
When surgery is necessary, specialized minimally invasive techniques can help reduce tissue damage and postoperative pain, support faster recovery, and help you safely return to your sport and daily activities.

3.  Rehabilitation & Return to Play

Being pain-free does not always mean your body is ready to return to sports. A systematic return-to-play assessment helps determine whether your strength, balance, and movement control are ready and good enough for you to return to your sport.

We use tools such as FMS and other performance assessment techniques to monitor recovery and evaluate your physical readiness. This helps reduce the risk of re-injury while improving movement performance both in sports and everyday life.

4. Optimizing Performance

We also look beyond your physical performance. We also assess how well your vital organs are functioning.
  • Personalized Health Assessment
We measure vitamin, mineral, and hormone levels in your body as this help evaluate factors related to muscle development, energy metabolism, physical fitness, and recovery. This supports a personalized approach to maintaining balance and overall performance.
  • Body Composition Analysis
We assess muscle mass, body fat, and other body composition factors alongside nutrition and health data to develop more precise nutrition, recovery, and performance plans.
  • Nutrition for Peak Performance
Personalized nutrition programs are designed to support exercise performance, fat loss, muscle development, and physical preparation before a competition.
  • Comprehensive Care for an Active Lifestyle
From injury prevention and sports performance assessment to personalized treatment to joint preservation to minimally invasive surgery to rehabilitation to return-to-play programs, our multidisciplinary team provides a comprehensive approach to sports medicine.

The goal is simple: to help you move better, recover safely, and stay active.

Degenerative joint disease and pain does not automatically mean that you need joint replacement surgery. Instead, joint preservation can help to prevent or delay joint replacement, especially in younger patients. At Bumrungrad Sports Medicine and Joints Center, we use both nonsurgical and surgical methods to preserve joints.

Symptoms:
Persistent joint pain that interferes with daily activities.

Diagnosis:
Our specialists assess the reason for joint deterioration. Using X-ray or MRI scan, we identify whether this is due to malalignment, malrotation or a neurological problem and treat accordingly to protect the joint.

Treatment:
Nonsurgical options are always explored before surgery. Physical therapy is a mainstay, helping to improve mobility through exercise and strengthening specific muscle groups. Steroid injections, hyaluronic acid injections and platelet-rich plasma injections can also help by relieving pain and halting the progression of degenerative joint disease.

Surgical options may include ligament surgery like ACL or PCL reconstruction, cartilage repair surgery or osteotomy procedures which cut and reshape the bone to repair a damaged joint.
